“I particularly appreciate your detailed style guide. Your professionalism and attention to detail are precisely what I’m looking for in a copyeditor, so thank you!”

Managing Editor, WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY PRESS

“Allison was the copy editor for my SoTL (scholarship of teaching and learning) book, and did an outstanding job. My book is better because of her expertise and her close, astute reading of my manuscript. I know from lived experience what a difference a good copy editor can make to a project, and Allison is one of the best I've ever had the pleasure to work with.”

Jessamyn Neuhaus,

Author of Geeky Pedagogy

“Thanks so much for returning the proofreading job right on time. And you did excellent work, exactly what I was hoping for! Your queries are really clear, and you made good corrections to the text. I really appreciate your good work, and your hours were also right in line with what we would expect.”

Managing Editor,

Hi, I'm Allison.

I believe that words have the power to change people. Words help us empathize with others and understand ourselves more clearly. It is through words that we shape our perception of reality and attempt to persuade others to change theirs. It is with words that we change the world. This is why words are my life and, thankfully, my profession.

As an editor, I specialize in nonfiction and academic publishing, especially those books that push the boundaries of current ideas and challenge readers to think or act in new ways.

For the last nineteen years, I have worked in editorial acquisitions, finding authors and developing books that help K–12 educators make a greater impact on the lives of their students. I'm currently a senior acquisitions editor at Teachers College Press, the univeristy press of Teachers College, Columbia University.

As a freelance editor, I work with higher education publishers, university presses, and individual authors to craft cogent, clean manuscripts that seek to inform and transform their readers. My core disciplines include education, philosophy, history, global studies, gender studies, communications, and media studies.
